Beware! When you wipe a hard drive no data is erased. With the the correct software almost all information can be recovered. So if your hard drive has any confidential information then your safest option is to replace the hard drive. http://www.trilogicuk.co.uk

Use your recovery disk that came with the laptop, which will restore everything to factory settings

    hi there
when you originally bought your laptop you should of received a recovery disk as part of your software bundle
this disk is in essence a windows disk but specificly designed and configured for your laptop, for example it has drivers and other software unique to your laptop ,and by using this it will return your laptop to its factory condition,or the way it was when you first took it out the box
to use the recovery disk you need to insert it in your dvdrw drive and restart windows, making usre the bios is configured to “boot from cd/dvd”…to do this press the pre-assigned key to enter set up(normally either f2 or delete) and then go into “advanced bios features”..then change the boot order so your dvdrw/cdrom is set as the first boot device, the second and third is your choice however the second is best to be the original first
then before you exit set up press “save and exit set up” to save any changes you have made to the cmos(permanent bios memory)…your laptop will now restart
then just follow the prompts as they appear, the only thing i will say is have your windows product key to hand as you may be asked for it mid-way through installation
also before you recover your laptop it may also be a good idea to locate the drivers for your laptops graphic and sound drivers
another tip:if you know the sellers name then use this during installation, this allways impresses the buyer
    any problems let me know
    good luck !

You can format the c drive, right click the hard drive & select format. This only “kinda works” & depending on who you sell it to this will be fine, but if you sell it to someone who is inquisitive, then buy a piece of software that will totally scrub your hard drive. Even at that, if someone is completely inquisitive, they can get into your stuff as they can buy software that will restore all your erased files.
Just be careful as to what type you are selling to.

  6. UziH94 Says:

if it has disk to disk recovery, during startup when it shows the manufacturers logo, repeatedley press Alt + F10. there is a small window of opportunity to do this in, so make sure you repeat it. a menu should come up, click on ‘restore to factory defaults’.

  7. @___@ Says:

Just plug in your recovery disk.
Restart the computer (f8 I think when it’s loading everything up) and boot from cd if my memory serves correctly…
